Integumentary (skin, hair, nails)
When you think of the integumentary system, think of our body’s outer layer. Our skin (including glands, nerves, and blood vessels), hair, and nails make up this first line of defense. The integumentary system is a complex armor. Our outer layer defends the rest of our organs against constant attack from infection and injury. The integumentary system also regulates temperature and how we deal with sunlight (absorbing and protecting). Our skin is one of the most important parts of our body considering the use of essential oils. Topical use, and absorption of these helpful oils through the skin, is the most-used application to experience the benefits of essential oils.
