History

The celery plant came from the Mediterranean region, and later expanded to other European countries, Asia, Africa and the Middle East through trade. For centuries, celery was an important component used by the ancient Greeks and Romans to aid in digestive health. The father of Western Medicine, Hippocrates, is known to have referred to celery as a sacred herb in his writings. Highly regarded for its cleansing properties, its leaves were among the wreath foliage awarded to victorious soldiers and sport champions in ancient Greece. The celery plant was also used in ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to treat various illnesses. Later, the French adopted celery into their fine cooking, using it as an essential element in making mirepoix and enhancing the flavor of other recipes. Celery also became a favorite ingredient in many other European dishes throughout the 1700 and 1800’s

Oil Description

Celery seed essential oil contains limonene, and shares many of the benefits that citrus peel and fir needle essential oils offer. Like bergamot, green mandarin, and Douglas Fir, celery seed essential oil also provides an invigorating aroma with cleansing properties. The chemical component, beta-selinene provides special antioxidant qualities and reduces digestive discomforts.

Do not put oils directly in your eyes (oils can drip into eyes – if this happens, flush with fractionated coconut oil, not water). Do not drip oils into the ear canal. Avoid sensitive areas.
