History
Many Eastern cultures value the magnolia flower’s potent calming benefits and have included magnolia in their folk medicine for centuries.
Oil Description
The magnolia tree produces a high amount of linalool alcohol, which is the main component behind magnolia essential oil’s calming effects. It’s oil is produced from michelia x alba, a species that thrives in Southeast Asia. The magnolia tree is also known as white champaca, or the white jade orchid tree. Magnolia trees have been known to grow to heights of almost 100 feet tall in their natural habitat. For harvesting reasons, farmers have contained them for easier access. They produce blossoms only twice a year that must be gathered by hand at day break or sundown.
Cautions
Use with a carrier for sensitive skin. Keep out of reach of children. Consult your physician if you are pregnant, nursing or under a doctor’s care. Do not put oils directly in your eyes (oils can drip into eyes – if this happens, flush with fractionated coconut oil, not water). Do not drip oils into the ear canal. Avoid sensitive areas.
